Dash Voltage regulator question

I have a 91 Pathfinder and my fuel and temp guage work sometimes and then sometimes don't. I read up on it and found that it probably is the dash voltage regulator. I ordered the part and i'm not sure if they gave me the right one, it doens't look like anything on the abck of the guage cluster.
I just wanted to know where exactly the voltage regulator is on the cluster, and what it looks like. any pics would be great. thanks for the help.

I believe there are two different ones available. The location of mine (on a '90) was top left corner on the back of the cluster. (when facing the gauge from drivers seat)Two wires I think. About 2"x2" square.

from my experience there is a silver one with wires coming out of it and one with a black heat sink on it with pins coming out of it. it seems like the black one is better because i've replaced two silver ones with black ones and they haven't gone bad yet. but this involved a little bit of soldering to make it work, and most people don't want to go throught the trouble.

Hi and thanks. I do, just have to get them together and post.
I'll post a new thread when I've done that. I'm just out the door now.
