Carrier Bearing
Has anyone here replaced the carrier bearing on a Hardbody with the 2-piece driveshaft before and can offer suggestions? It looks to me that the bearing supports a section of shaft about 18" long with a yoke on both ends, meaning it won't side on/off either end. When you buy a new bearing, does that small section of shaft come with it? How would a shadetree mechanic (like me) approach this job?
I have a vibration in the drivetrain at about 40 mph (it's more than a tire imbalance) and coincidentally, the carrier bearing's rubber is split/cracked/missing in some sections, so I'd like to replace it.
