Hello, shopping for a Nissan truck, can anyone answer these questions?
Hello, im shopping for a Nissan truck, and found a 1995 Kingcab, 4cyl, with 106k miles on it. The dealer wants $4,995 for it, but I think I can get it for $4,200.
Its a nice truck, very well kept.
I know the truck is built in the US, but what parts on the car are Japanese. I remember seeing on the window sticker for my Mazda Protege5, 98% Japanese, 2% US. Anyone know the specs on the Nissan?
Also, is there anything I should check in particular on the truck? (like common problem, etc, etc.) The dealership gives you a 48hr money back guarantee, so this will give me time to get it checked by my mechanic.
Any info/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hope to be a Nissan owner soon. Thanks.
Not 100% sure of the parts content...but what you should do is request that you are able to take the vehicle off the lot to have it inspected by a mechanic of your choice. They may have you leave a deposit, or your current car as a form of colateral, which is to protect them. You do have that option...

Well, they told me "due to insurance reasons" they cant allow me to bring it to my mechanic (which is 15miles away). Like I said in my first post, they did say I would have 48 hrs to get the vehicle checked out, if im not satisifed for any reason, they will give me my check back.
I just ran a Carfax report. To my disappointment, the truck had (2) accidents. The first was a rear impact (minor/moderate damage), the second was a front impact (minor damage). This sucks, since my wife and I really liked the truck. It drove great, and we didnt notice any damage from an accident.
Im going to call my mechanic tomorrow, and see if he can tell how bad the accidents damaged the car. If the bumpers were the only thing damaged, they look like they were replaced.
Which state do you live in? If they're refusing you to get the truck checked out by your mechanic, it loos as if they are trying to hide something. So, my advice is to keep looking, and not purchase that truck. I don't know...it just sounds fishy...they may just say "You bought it, tough shit", because in CA there is NO Cooling-Off period on automobile purchases. If you do buy it, make sure you get that 48-hour refund deal IN WRITING, because if things get ugly, that is what will hold up in court.

They showed me the contract, so it will be in writing. Im like you, I feel like somethings fishy. The salesman was giving me the runaround when I asked for a Carfax report. When I checked the Carfax at home, I found it had 2 accidents. Sounds to me like he knew it had those accidents, and he didnt want me to see them.
So my decision is up in the air about this truck. My wife likes it, but I feel awry about it...
Go with your gut feelings. If you think that it may not be the best decision, keep looking...better to be safe, and wait a little while longer, and spend a little more money, versus you jumping in now and running the possiblity of getting screwed.
