i bought a brand new 02 path se 4x4 for $31, 000 in dec 01. i love the car but some weak points are low top speed (105-110) bad gas milage and thats about it. acceleration is not bad for a suv ive takin out a lot of cars on the street. the turning on the car is xcellent for a suv in my opinion. id say its a good buy but keep your mind open to other car. take a test drive of the path and other cars. i was happy with the test drive i had with my path.

I'm not sure when they started putting the VQ35DE engine into the Pathfinders, but that was a major improvement over the VG33E in the late '90s models. If you plan to do any towing or need the power, I'd seriously consider one with the 3.5L. But they may have just started doing that in 2001 or 2002.

Differences between the 95- and 96+ models are pretty significant I think. In 1996, they went to a whole new front suspension (struts with coils) which I think is far superior to the short-travel torsion bar suspension on the 95-down models.

Save your money and wait to buy one with the 3.5, it's worth the money. You'll probably spend the money upgrading for more power in the long run anyway!
