Advice wanted for PCV replacement on 95 p/u

I recently bought a 95 pickup with the 4 cylinder and no options and am wanting to do some basic maintenance on it. I couldn't find the PCV valve when I looked today; I did find a post here that says it's by the alternator. I wondered if anybody has any advice on the best way to get to it.

Thanks

Yes, that's correct. It's best to get to it when you do an oil change because if I recall correctly, it's much easier to get to it with the oil filter removed. You'll have to remove the rubber wheel well liner at the least -- and remove the right front wheel for easier access. Remove the oil filter and it's right above that. It takes about a 1/2" open end wrench to get to it. Shouldn't be too difficult with the oil filter removed.

Good luck!

Yep... took me a call to the dealer to find it! Looked for that thing for about 2 hours! I couldn't even see it in my factory service manual. Like Jason says, buried in the front near the power steering pump and oil filter.

Thanks for the tips. I got it replaced today; definitely the hardest-to-get-to pcv I've changed.

Agree -- I've never seen it that buried before. However, mine came out extremely easy. It looked original, with lots of gunk baked around it. I figured that hose would be impossible to get off (I'd have to cut it) and I was afraid the valve itself would have been all but "heat welded" into place. The hose came off like I had just installed it, and the valve itself unscrewed easily. I guess all the oil cake film saved me from rust and other problems down there.

Check out this webpage, it shows the location of the PCV valve near the alternator. I almost forgot I had a link to this on my webpage. Scroll about half way down and under the heading "TIPS", there's a pic you can click on and enlarge to get a better view of the location. It also has a lot of other goodies like where the throttle adjustment location is on our throttle body. Hope this helps...

Jadcock, Yea I had the same experience - it came off very easily despite looking original.

Sannis, thanks for that link.
