Pickup lock frozen.....HELP!

I have a 95 Pickup XE. My door window molding is absolutely hosed and my door locks keep rusting up. Im not sure that it is the lock itself but one of the mechanisms inside the door. Im at the point where I have to jump through the windows in order to get in and out of the truck.

Anyway here's the dilema. I call Nissan and the molding is $60 EACH DOOR!!! Does anyone have any idea as to where I can find some aftermarket molding, what else I can do, etc...or am i just going to be stuck dropping the cash on OEM.

Also, does anyone have any ideas on how to get the door unlocked? Im using a slim jim and everything imaginable trying to get it unlocked....any further ideas?

Thanks.

Remove the seat, open the door panel, unlock the door. Not hard, but it will consume an afternoon. I am looking for the same molding, if you find it somewhere, post it. The seat is retained by four 12mm headed bolts, the panel, by two large #3 phillips headed screws in the armrest. Remove the trim from around the door handle, remove the window crank, then start under the botom of the panel removing the hidden clips. Be careful as you can damage the interior panel, easily. I would consider purchasing a tool specially built for this as it will speed the process. It looks like a screwdriver with a bent shaft and a forked end.

Aaron

I have managed to pop the door open before with a coat hanger and taking the door panel off and replacing parts is a piece of cake. I was outside looking at the door and I suddenly wondered if you have ever attmpted this.....it looks pretty tough to take the panel off with the dash where it is. Basically, I'm just wondering if you've ever done it before and if you have any tips as to how to get the front of the panel off when you can't even fit a hand in there. Thanks.

First spray the locks and mechanism you can get to with WD40...that should help with any rusting...

Start calling the boneyeards, they should come up with the parts you need...

You can get OEM parts for less through Joe at Infiniti of Scottsdale (sells Nissan parts too) - should save 20-30% or more (depending on how your dealer matrixes prices). 1-888-216-5328. Joe's a good guy, drives a 96XE himself. If these gaskets are a problem, buying a used one may not be a great idea... probably nearly shot too.

Hey everybody thanks for all the tips. I had to take the door panel off from inside the truck, it didn't require me to remove the driver seat though. It turned out the actual door latch mechanism was shot!! I replaced it all with parts from an old Nissan Sentra. For future reference Infinity of Scottsdale wants $84 for each window molding piece....more expensive. I took the old window molding off of the sentra and cut it to fit. Sentra molding doesnt dry rot like P/U molding. All i had to do was drop some Silicon in a few places to make sure I got a good seal. It was a challenge all together but thanks again.

Good fix! I have never seen Scottsdale more expensive than any other dealership - maybe they were quoting a different part number?
