Pathfinder - switching out of 4WD

All concerning a 2002 Pathfinder

Question 1 (the easy one): To switch out of 4WD (part time), I simply need to push the stick forward from 4H to 2H, correct?

If I'm doing that correctly, that leads me to my other question.

Is the car supposed to switch immediately back into 2WD once this is done or does it wait. My pathfinder seems to stay in 4WD (light on dash stays on as well) for at least 5 minutes after it 2WD has been selected. Is there something wrong with the car or what I'm doing? If I had to guess it seems to finally click back into 2WD once a 90 degree turn is made, i.e. pulling into a driveway or onto a cross street.

Any comments would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

To switch from 4wd to 2wd all you need to do is push the stick forward. The light stays on because your front shafts are not disengaging. It's pretty common with Nissan...my truck does the same thing. After a couple of stop and goes or a 90 deg turn or two it pulls the shafts loose. Don't sweat it.
