Sounds like the lens has gotten dusty. You should be able to remove this with cleaner disc. I do not recommend my method, disassembly and Qtip. Its rather difficult, but it sems to work. Aaron

I am amazed by the lack of skipping in mine, as there has been no problems. My Bimmer on the other hand is out of control, I have to do something about that one.

Hi SLVRPATH.

The same thing started happening to my cd-player about a couple of months ago. The skipping first occurred during cold starts so I thought the lenses were fogged. Then it eventually started skipping even on normal temperatures. I don't know about yours, but mine skips on both CD-R's and regular CD's.

Do you know if this thing is covered under warranty? If ever, can't the dealer just replace the unit?

Sorry...I almost forgot, I drive an '02 SE.

The dealer orders stereo's direct from the manufacture. Should be no problem replacing your stereo's under warranty. Usually the dealer gets them shipped next day.
If there out of warranty there sent out for repair.
