need radio removal tips

I will be replacing the factory radio in my 95 with another unit and would like to ask you guys and gals for tips in doing this. I believe the whole face plate from the center vents down to the radio needs to come off. Is this correct? I have only seen two screws that are visible just by looking at it. Any tips/procedure? Thanks.

you got it. You should be able to reuse the mounting bracket from your stock unit as well, making the swap just about as easy as it gets. The plastic is rather flimsy so be gentle. wvd

Thank you. Do the center vents need to come out also or only the faceplate.

just the plate, once it is off, you should be able to easily reach the screws on each side of the stereo and pull it straight out

The vents will come out with the face trim. Remove the two visible screws and grip the trim near the center and carefully pull all the clips loose. Do not get too uneven or the clips will break. Also there are three electrical connections behind it. The cig lighter, hazard lamps, and inst cluster dimmer all have different plugs, so you can't get them crossed up. A magnetic screwdriver is handy to remove the four screws retaining the radio, as the bottom two are recessed pretty deep. BTW, its easier than it looks. Aaron

Make sure you ground the radio to metal, not on the radio harness adapter ( if you're using one). Very easy job.

Just chose the model and consider it done. Only took me 30 minutes. And make sure you get a WIRING HARNESS!
