AirLift Air Bags

I installed AirLift Air Bags in my 97 Pathfinder XE this weekend, pretty straight-forward installation and what a difference on the rear suspension. No more tail dragging, can't wait to haul my boat this summer. At full air pressure I could barely get the rear to drop when I stood on the trailer hitch.

Sorry no pictures yet, they'd probably be a little boring anyway. Just red air bags inside of the coil springs with the air tubing running to an air valve right behind the driver's side rear wheel. The big difference will be when I get pictures of the truck with a boat hitched up and no air pressure vs. max air pressure, there should be a huge difference in rear end sag. Pretty good mod for $60-70 bucks.

Here's a link to a write-up on the air lift air bag installation by Dean Thayer from the 4x4parts.com site, good info on the installation with pictures. My install didn't include the compressor but I might add it in the future.

Here is a site, the guy installed air bag on the rear and new struts up front. Some good info, now if only they were the KYB AGX series struts. http://basdaz.classicbroncos.com/pfIndex.htm

Lewis,

How is the airlift system working for you? Do you have to check the pressure alot(do they lose air?)

Thanks

The Airbags have worked great for their purpose, towing my boat to and from the lake. Since I don't use them that often I don't have the compressor installed, just fill them up before I leave. Mine don't lose air more than usual, I just check them every month or so when I check the tire pressure and haven't had a problem with keeping them above the minimum PSI.

But there are a couple of negatives, higher ride than stock at minimum PSI and decreased brake pressure to the rear brakes when towing due to the load sensing valve.

Lewis, I found them here(but it says only to 1995): http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...X/appId-447856
Do you know if its the same SKU# you have? - no rush

Thanks for the advice - I'll have to look into the load sensing thing as well

The AirLift site has an online catalogue that lists the correct number, the number you posted isn't an AirLift part#.
