Noisy Injectors, valvetrain noise, and leaking exhaust flange all sound similar. A 36" tube can be used as a stethoiscope to help determine the source. Aaron

Also, It could be a pulley bearing for the belts themselves. HTH

This little device can be your best friend when trying to find these sorts of things... and it'll make you look like an expert to whoever is selling the car! Imagine the looks I got showing up to check out potential car purchase with a multi-meter, IR thermometer, and one of those things.

Is the ticking variable with engine speed? I'd suspect HLA (lifter) noise, but it's hard to say without hearing it.

If you hear the ticking noise on the v6 pathy's, it's the exhaust manifolds guarenteed... very common. Also check on the tranny fluid condition to see if it smells burnt. The stock tranny coolers are known for clogging and wasting the tranny. easily fixed with an aftermarket tranny cooler.

One other thing is make sure it was built after 06/93. That's when Nissan switched from a 60K timing belt to a 105k. If it's got over 105K make sure the timing belt has been replaced.

Good luck.
