I need a tailgate handle

I need a tailgate handle. My wife was opening it up yesterday so we could shovel out gravel. The plastic handle broke. I called the dealer and they wanted $69 just for the handle. Anyone have a parts truck with good handle they could part with?

Have you tried a junkyard?There should be a few that have the same handle in any good junkyard.

Try ebay, I just got one recently for $10 new.

I won one yesterday from ebay and hope to have it next week. I had to take the tailgate apart just to remove the tailgate. I see why the handle broke. Not much plastic there to force the gate open and naturally it broke.

I got the same problem on my 01 Frontier. The tailgate handle was poorly made. Could you guys let me know if yall ever find a cheap replacement for it. THanks

One more thing, I found a replacement but it was for model years 96-00. Would it fit for my 01 Frontier?

Type hardbody into the ebay motors parts and accessories searchbox ... there are always a ton of them listed in there for cheap prices ... I got one for my '93 and installed it with no problems.
