2002 Frontier Flashing Air Bag Light

just installed an XM radio in my 2002 Frontier, and now the air bag light is flashing. I have double-checked all the connections, and all the plugs to the console (air bag key, air bag light, 12v) are snug. I didn't cut any wires in this installation.

The only thing I did that was stupid was short out the dome light when unscrewing it. It blew a 7.5A fuse which has been replaced.

I have tried turning the key "ON", pressing the door switch 5 times in 7 seconds, turning it off, then starting it up but the light won't reset. Anyone with a shop manual able to tell me the procedure to reset the light?

If I have to take it to the dealer I'll have to remove the XM radio so that they don't blame me and try to charge me $700 to fix it.

I have the battery disconnected right now and will leave it overnight, but just wondered if there's an "official" method to reset this that won't require a trip to the dealer.

Thanks!

Turns out that when I was testing the XM radio with the dashboard apart, it set a code because the Passenger Airbag Switch was disconnected at the time.

Took it to the dealer and they cleared the code - problem solved. Thanks to John Elway Nissan for doing this for free, I figured they'd rape me for $100 or more just to do this

Glad you got it figured out. That is way cool about the dealership.

2003 Nissan Frontier - Air Bag Light

Have the same problem with by new Frontier after installing the radio. Disassembled dash, unplugged the air bag connectors, installed the radio, turned the car on to test it. Then turned car off reconnected air bag connectors and now light flashes.

don't live near the dealer and would appreciate it if someone would post or e-mail me the correct reset procedure.

Thanks!

Sorry to hear that. We shouldn't be forced to pay for this IMHO. Nissan knows that its customers will install aftermarket equipment and should provide the required information on how to disconnect the airbag circuit including restting the error codes. (If the codes come back, then it's time to go to the dealer because that means something was damaged.)

Someone in cyber land must know the proper sequence. Sure wish they'd post it or if the only way is with a service tool, let us know that.

Thanks and have a great New Year!
