Hi - I've got a pretty cool new-to-me diesel nissan terrano, similar to the pathfinder released in the states, but right hand drive and diesel. It's unhappy, here are the symptoms:

When accelerating hard to pull into traffic, around 2500 RPMs, a terrible clackety noise starts up and dark smoke starts billowing out of the tail pipe, when you take your foot off the accelerator, the engine continues to ref for a few seconds and the clackety noise and smoke continue for 10 to 30 seconds. After the noise stops, the engine runs fine and doesn't seem to have any problems.

Any hits?

I'm in Seattle, WA. Anybody know any good Nissan diesel mechanics in the area?
