Unhappy BIG Problems HELP!!!

ok this will make people laugh but it was done so listen. my neighbor has a 97 pickup and his battery was dead, his other car had the same battery he said so i was like ok ill put it in for ya. not paying attention the terminals were opposite when i hooked it up. the battery light now comes on(terminals correctly hooked up) so i put an alternator in it thinking it got smoked. new alternator in an now i have no heater controls no lights except for head lights no horn, the battery is not the recomended battery for the vehicle but that shouldnt affect the electrical components as long as it starts the car right? any suggestions here?

Check fuses and fusible links at the battery. Hopefully it didn't fry the ECU...
