Question just bought a 95 nissan pu v6

hello my name is bob, i am new to this forum. I am a technician for Ford and I have just purchased a 95 nissan pickup 4x2 V6 as my primary form of transportation. I do not know much about the vehicle and i have a few questions about it :

1. is the truck and XE or an SE? Its says XE on drivers door and tailgate, and SE on the passenger side door, its a 5sp V6 king cab 2 wd if it makes a difference. I just assumed that it was an XE

2. Am i supposed to be getting 220 miles to the tank highway mileage? It seems to me that i should be getting alot more. Or is that what the 3.0 is supposed to get?

3. I cannot find the connector for the computer in the vehicle, is there one ? I know all Ford and Gm's have them i searched all over the vehicle for it.

Any help in answering my questions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hello Bob.

XE or SE.... sorry, can't really tell (same truck different stickers). The insurance company ran my VIN code and my truck came up as an SE. (Which it is) so the stickers on my truck are costing me just a tad more than an XE. Go figure.

My 3.0l v-6 4x4 gets about 270 in town and 330 on the highway.

Connector... I never needed mine, but I think it is under the drivers side dash somewhere... I am proably wrong on that one though.

No. All people are good people, some are just better than others. Signatures are not that important. :-)

yes i gave my trucks vin to a nissan dealership to buy some parts and they told me it was an se. I was just wondering what the difference was between an xe and an se. thanks for the info.

p.s. i heard that the 2wd v6 5 sp king cab was actually rare. Is there anytruth to this?
thanks

Bob:

The SE and XE are trim packages. The XE is the "base" model and the SE the upscale. Like a Ranger XL vs. XLT. Your vehicle may have been involved in an accident or had its tailgate stolen in the past -- and had a tailgate from an XE truck put on.

In general, I think V6 2WD Nissans are uncommon. In fact, I think the only V6 2WDs I've seen were SEs. Most Nissans, and especially most 2WD trucks, had the KA24E/DE engines (the 2.4L 4-cylinder). KA24E = SOHC in the 97- Hardbodys, KA24DE = DOHC in the 98+ Frontiers. There was only one V6 variant for a long time, the 3.0L VG30. I think the newer ones may have a 3.3L engine.

Most of the domestic manufacturers specified some sort of V6 engine with 4x4. I think you could only get the 3.0 and 4.0 in a 4WD Ranger. Nissan is not this way (at least WAS not this way...not sure about current models). You could pick either engine with either drivetrain configuration.
