2002 Quest mystery horn/alarm problem

The horn on my 2002 Quest SE started to mysteriously activate today. I wondered if anyone had an idea of what may be the problem.

The vehicle was just sitting in the parking lot at work, with the doors locked and the factory alarm activated (as it does when you lock the doors). The horn started to sound, not with the pulse that a regular alarm activation will have, but steady. Pressing the keyfob buttons did nothing. I could only stop the horn by pressing the horn button in the center of the steering wheel.

The horn sounded again like this several more times over the course of an hour, with the doors both locked and unlocked.

Nobody was near the vehicle. Nothing large drove past (I dont think there is a motion sensor in the stock factory security system anyway).

The vehicle has never been in an accident. The battery is about 3 years old.

The only way to stop the thing was to pull the relay for the horn in the engine compartment.

Any ideas?

Steering wheel contacts are sticking or worn in the steering wheel. I'd look there first. If you p[lan on messing with it yourself, disconnect the battery and wait at least 10-15 minutes before taking the wheel and airbag off. Undeployed airbags are very dangerous if mishandled...I saw one toss a 36" traffic cone 50 feet in the air on Mythbusters a while back.
