Hey , i just spended the last 24 hours trying to swap my truck.and no luck.everything fits exept one thing.the oil pan . on my truck the oil drain bolt is in the back so it clears all direction rods and stablelizer but on the other motor the draing plug is up front .so my motor wont go . why would the oil pan be different and what could i do to make it work? i thought about cutting and bending and welding the direction rod but i dont feel it much? its a 95 pick up ka24e i have. thanks for any help
I'm not 100% sure on that specific oil pan, however is it reversalbe? If not the oil pan then how about the crossmember?
On my 510 project, we cut the crossmember in 3 pieces and were able to weld it on backwards so that the hump in it went the other way to accommodate the sr/ka series motors.
Pics of your problem?

The cross menber isnt in the way, its the direction and stablizer rods that are in the way.i didnt get the chance to take pics of it cuz we did all of this in one night.the oil pan seems to have the same bolt pattern. its just can i swap the pans , i dont really know whats under an oil pan but can i move stuff to fitt the other oil pan? i know i am not very clear , i dont really know all the tearms especialy in english.
Its hard to for to picture the problem since I can't see it. However I was also under the assumption that the blocks were the same and only the heads where different, which obviously they're not. Could you modify the engine mounts to make everything sit further back or further forward to clear your problem?

You need a scanner. If you dont have one go to a local copy place and get them to scan it for you, then you can make a free account on, say, Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and then upload the image to there. Then you copy the link for the picture and paste it into your post and voila!

yeah i checked it oout and the bolts holes seem to be the same on both pans .pickup hose ??is there only a hose in the pan or is there a mechanic of some sort to?
is the oil pickup just a little hose on that engine?
I remember working on the z24 that was going into the 510 the pickup was much more then just a little hose.
You may want to drop both oil pans and have a look at them, it really seems kinda cheep. I've never taken apart a KA24E or DE so I'm not 100% sure.
