engine timing

I have installed a timing chain kit into my 93 2.4 liter PU. All seems to be well with the kit install. My problem is, I forgot to copy the distributer timing pages from the manual when I was at the library. You must take the oil pump off of the engine before you can remove the timing chain cover. When you remove the oil pump the the gear shaft for the pump and the distributer falls out.
I can put it back in easily but need to know the correct distributer orientation when the engine is TDC on #1. I am hoping someone can save me the trouble of a bus ride back to the library......Thanks for any help.

Its not that bad. You will need a black marker.

1.) With the distributor out and the #1 at TDC the distributor drive will be vertical - or close to it (in line from the fender well to the engine). Perhaps just off a hair pointing towards the belts.

2.) Put the cap on the distributor and mark the #1 plug wire terminal on the distributor housing.

3.) Take cap back off distributor. Point the rotor tip to the black mark on the distributor housing.

4.) Install on engine.

That is the #1 position on the distributor. All better now.

Drive. Enjoy. Repeat as necessary.

Hope that helps,
Mr.Mike!
