Question 2006 Xterra with bad Electronic Control Module (ECM)

We just purchased an '06, trading our '03 up for a new model. Drove it off the lott, parked it and it wouldn't start! After an hour, it started. Again, not starting until the next day. We took it back immediately to swap it as this made us feel like we bought a 'lemon'. They had no other xterra's there we liked, so they insisted on servicing it and finding out it was the ECM. Said it was programed with a glitch and they will replace the module and reprogram it for us. For those of you out there, please answer this: are we doing the right thing here??? Will this vehicle be fine, or should we be concerned? Please advise as the truck will be ready in a few days!
Thank you...

If that's all that was wrong with it, then sure. Many electronic components take a crap on you shortly after purchase, I had a DVD player that worked once and never worked again.

No, no other troubles. I was told by another person who deals with cars that it likely was just something was programmed wrong on the manufacturing line and instead of slowing production by pulling out my xterra - sent it on to the dealer. In asking the dealer why didn't they know about it, he had said it usually doesn't show up until at least 40 turns of the starter. With being a new vehicle, how many people actually took it for a test drive? I happened to be the 'lucky' turn!

It was a good deal initially...we traded up our 03 and got a 1000 rebate for doing so. Once the repair of the ECM, we went in and had them re-write the sale but this time for a lower price just for the inconvenience. I will have to say the dealer was most accomodating and now our payment is the same as our 03! We are most happy!

We have no other problems with it...we love the xterra's as we traded up from an 03 to and 06. And, the dealer informed us if there were any other problems, to bring it in to trade - they were that confident that we won't have any other problems arise. Thanks for the reply! Good to know a happy 06 owner!

Thanks! I was nervous about getting the 06 fixed! But I feel comfortable now, after having some repies here and a few friends assure me that it does happen and there will not be anything wrong afterwards.
