Does anyone know the alarm remote programming sequence

my mother has a 96 Pathfinder SE, and she's about to buy a new remote control for her factory alarm. (the buttons on her originals have broken)
The local stealership wants to charge $42 for each remote (I can almost deal with that) but wants to charge $80 each for programming.
A few years ago, I bought another remote from a friend, and he programmed it for me while I watched. He simply pressed the buttons on the remote (which order I cannot remember) and the remote was then programmed.

Does anyone here know the sequencing of the button presses?

Thanks in advance

Should be as follows:

Close and lock doors.
Insert ignition key into ignition (do not turn) 6 or more times in 10 seconds.
Hazard lights should flash.
Insert key and turn to ACC position
Press a button on the fob, lights should flash again.
To add more, lock and unlock doors, press next fob button.
When finished, open door to end procedure.

I've tried this sequence which works fine (the hazard lights flash) until I turn the key to ACC and then press the transmitter/remote button. Nothing happens. This is a remote that I just got off of ebay. I just put in new batteries. Beginning to wonder if it a problem with the remote, that I'm doing something wrong, or that I should just keep trying.

Any suggestions???? Thanks!
