I have a 1988 HB SEV6 AT

I saw someone mention this in a thread from awhile back.. that maybe some additional horsepower could be obtained by removing the metal flex tube hose running from the manifold on the driver's side of the engine up to the air cleaner housing.

Is this true? What is this hose?

no, all the tube does is help warm up the engine when it is cold, nothing else.

Yep. That's the hot air riser tube. Helps warm it up on cold days, that's all. Doesn't matter if you keep it or take it off, the power level is going to stay the same.
