96 hb - whats under the seats?

Im in the process of removing all my carpeting and laying down Herculiner in the interior. Im trying to make it pretty waterproof on the floor, so Ill also be protecting the wiring harnesses that fit in the groove on the bottom sides by the doors. Everything seems to be going fine, but i have some questions about the modules on the floor under the driver's and passenger's seats.

what are they for? i have one long module under the passenger's, which i think is the PCM, but there are two under the drivers - one about the size of the passengers and the other much smaller. does anyone have any idea which one controls which?

also, i thought about moving these modules to the underside of their respective seats, upside down. there is some pretty sturdy metal on the undersides that i think could handle them with a little engineering () and i think those added inches off the floor will really help. grounds shouldnt be a problem as far as i can tell. does anybody see any potential problems with this? is there a better place to put 'em?

thanks.

Driver's seat: ABS controller, stereo amp for rear speakers or door lock timer depending on how your truck is equipped. Passenger's seat: ECU. You can relocate them if you ground them securely.
