1986 1/2 Hardbody Throttle body after market help?

Ok, So I am the guy with the fried ECU and now I have a new problem. So I put in a reman. ECU and the car will start and run, all be it roughly, but it is dumping fuel like crazy and then it dies. So my wrench asked me to try and locate a used throttle body assembley. No prob right? Well my 86 1/2 was manufactured in Nov. of 85, and apparently in June of 86 they changed the Fuel injection system. So that's a pretty narrow window of model year to try and find a u pull part. My question is, does anybody know if an aftermarket product like an edelbrock or holley would work without major modifications?

Thanks,
Jeff

P.S. I just want my truck back!! Summer is coming!!

Are you talking an aftermarket TB or carb? For a carb, I don't know that they'd be major modifications, but they may not be trivial either. Assuming you could find a carb with the right CFM, you probably need an adaptor plate to mate it to the intake. If it had an electric choke, you'd just need power. You'd need new linkage. You'd need to either replace your fuel pump or throttle it back (maybe with a fuel pressure regulator) to carb PSI (4-7 maybe).

Does the mechanic say what he thinks is wrong with the TB? Mostly, they're just an air tube. A throttle plate & some linkage. What kind of injection do you have? Is it a single or dual TB injection? If so, how are the injectors? Are you not getting any codes on the new ECU? How about something as simple as the wrong spark plug (I've heard quite a few stories how the wrong plug can make a FI engine run rich)?

After market throttle body or a conversion to make it a straight normally aspirated enginge. What are the options, general costs? and level of difficulty.

Right now he thinks either the injectors are fried or that and a combination of one of the sensors on the TB assembly.
