I'm having issues with my 95 Nissan P/U. It tends to idle high when I come to a complete stop either at a stop sign or a light or just whenever it's idling. I've had this problem for a few years now but the problem seemed to have dissapeared about a year or so ago. Just last week I noticed that it was idling high again. I'm not sure where to look, I think I'll check for codes on the ECU. I had already had checked the computer and I think it came up with a code 12 for MAF. However, it doesn't add up why the problem would dissapear for over a year, run just fine and then suddenly reappear. I'm was going to change my oil, does anyone have any ideas what I could check out? I'm to replace the PCV valve and the air filter. How hard is it to clean out the throttle body and MAF?
My 93 HB is doing the exact same thing.
The last 2 days its been normal but before that I would come to a complete stop and it would ilde fine for a sec then shoot up to im guessing 1300 rpm or so.
If I stomp the gas quickly and let off while at a light it will idle back down.
I was thinking idle air control motor but now im not sure.
Otherwise it runs extremely well.
Has 99k on it.
Ive only owned it for the last 1500 miles but its been real good.
i have this problem too on a 94
but i know i have an engine probleme with the timing chain which i have for over a year now but tends to happen more often now the probleme began the same way your trucks are acting high idling anytime anywhere any weather i ran the truck for a year like this without taking much care there was a racling sound when starting the truck for about 2-3 sec i tough it was a normal problem due to the winter temperature making my valves knoking by now the sound doesnt stop it come from the front of the engine i got poor economique tank per miles i could get around 500km with a tank and now i get 400km so i am gonna replace the timeing chain causing this trouble (which is a well known problem on those ka24e engines) here the parts are sold around 140$CDN i got the kit for 60$CDN on ebay so its worth time to look for the parts
for your information the ratling sound is jsut louder when you start the truck so you can start it open the hood and listen if it can be your problem
where can i find a thermo element...ive looked everywhere and i dont know where i can find one...
Thanks,
Nick
You need to replace the wax pellet in the thermo element (this is on a Z-24i engine). It cost about $75 from an on-line dealer. The thermo element is on the front of the throttle body (side closest the rad) under the air cleaner. It has a small coolant line going into it and one coming out of it. The factory service manual doesn't show it too well. I think four screws hold it on. Be careful not to drop the little plastic insulators that are beneath the unit and the throttle body. There is a clip that holds the wax pellet into the housing. The replacement wax pellet comes loaded in a device that looks seroius. It is to keep the plunger from coming out, but looks like serious overkill. Just be sure to install it into the housing quickly and don't let the plunger come out.
