new tires are rubbing...

I got my 2001 xterra last summer and this is the first time I went to have new tires put on. I had 31/10.5/r15s put on because that is what was on there when I got the truck. now my tires are rubbing... on the front mudflap/fender area. I looked at the owner manual and found that i should have p265/70r15s on there. how much of a size difference are the wheels i have on and the ones the owners manual says to have on? please help... I want to take the tires back tomorrow and have them replaced, and I want to make sure I get the right tires this time.

You can use this site to compare different sizes. The actual tire dimensions may vary based on manufacturer, but in general, it should be a good guide and comparison tool.

If you want to stick with the old "floatation sizes", 30x9.5 would be closer to your 265/70s in diameter, but you'd lose some width.
