Power Steering Leak in pipe - replace with hose???
I have a nasty leak in my power steering pipe that goes underneath the radiator. I found the part for 150 bucks but I was thinking can this be fixed by just using a thick walled rubber hose? This is my winter vehicle and right now I removed the belt so that I don't burn out the PS pump. I may just buy the part for 150 but I wanted to know if there are any reasons not to try a thick walled rubber hose. Thanks.

I'd try the rubber hose. If it leaks, get a proper replacement.

I'd make sure you have at least a knife in the vehicle with you. If the hose blows out in the middle of nowhere, you can cut the PS belt off.

Can't hurt anything. You might also check with a local hydraulic shop... they may be able to weld it for you... I have also had some success at salvage yards if you have the opportunity to browse around and pull your own parts.
