Throttle body conversion

Does anyone have any info on converting back to carberator, I have a 86
p/u with a good body but it has been changed from a 4cyl to a 6cyl by someone before me. the wiring is a disaster, there's a nissan maxima cpu under the pass. seat. it's a nice truck but I really would like to eliminate
all the wiring under the hood the throttlebody shorts out & melts wires when you plug them in. any info on a conversion wuold be greatly appretiated.
than-x.

Off the top of my head, you'd need to:
  • find a carb (probably with an electric choke) that'll fit that manifold (maybe from an earlier version of the engine, maybe with a manifold)
  • deal with a trans kick-down cable (if automatic)
  • go back to a mechanical fuel pump or maybe an electric that can be set to the sub 10psi level
  • get an adapter to mate the carb to the intake if necessary
  • worry about what emissions equip (pcv, air pump, charcol cannister, etc.) may be required (if you have to do inspections)

There's probably other stuff, but hopefully that'll get you started until others chime in.

Good luck and keep us updated.

Oh, check out the recent posts on dropping a SBC into your truck -- Very
