Removing window crank handle

Heres an old trick my grandpa taught me. It works on 01 Nissian Frontier Dessert Runner and several other vehicles too; 80s model Dodge trucks and Pontiacs for sure.

Open the door and look between the window crank handle and door trim panel. Youre looking for a metal omega symbol shaped clip, its a bent U shape.

Turn the handle till you see the open end of this clip. If the clip doesnt turn with the handle, turn your head instead.

Work a rag between the handle and trim panel. Maybe between handle and washer depends on your vehicle. You want this rag to catch on one of the ends of the clip.

Pull the rag around to the left or right, wich ever side you can catch. Pull till the clip pops off. Watch for where it lands cause it may not stay on the rag.

After this the handle should pull right off. If not, check for a screw in the center of the end of the handle, possibly covered by a piece of trim.

To reinstall, put the washer and handle back on and slide the clip in between the washer and handle. It should rest in a grove in both the handle and spline the handle goes on, on my truck anyway. You may need a thin screw driver to push it on all the way.

WoW, yer done
