Question How do you remove the radio in an Xterra?

I am upgrading the radio/cd player in my 2004 Xterra, and I need to remove the stock radio. I can't for the life of me, figure out how to get started. I've searched the internet and can't find any info. Does the console need to be removed? If so, how? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

It ended up being much easier than I thought. All you have to do is pull up firmly on the center console (the plastic console area that surround the shifter). If it helps, try to pry your fingers underneath the edges adjacent to the carpet. Carefully tug up and the center piece will pop right out. Once that is done you are home free... you will see a couple of sets of screws that hold in the dash portion of the console. Remove those and the console piece and the radio can be taken out very easily.

Within less than 30 minutes I had the old radio out and a new unit capable of receiving Sirius Satellite Radio installed and working.

Note -- it is highly recommended that you purchase a pre-wired harness unit that connects to the radio and then plugs into the Nissan recepticle. It was around $20, but made the installation a snap... and the radio can be easily removed if ever needed.

Hope this helps.

Yeah... when putting a new radio in, NEVER cut the harness. I made my best friend keep the harness when I helped install his radio in the truck I now own... some idiot stole the stereo, and instead of quickly disconnecting the harness, they cut the wires... I hate people who are so desperate and stupid that they'll tear crap up to steal a $50 Wal-mart cd player! Now I have to get a replacement factory harness, as well as run all new wiring.
