I started having problems with my low beams recently - left headlight wasn't working. I had to ground it directly to the body, which screwed up my day-lights. Apparently the problem was DRL unit and not willing to pay $100 I decided to get rid of the damn thing and to rewire the lights USA-style. The procedure and some schematics is here:

To keep the car legal I did the fog light mod, but instead of splicing fog relay input (#2, red/blue) to parking light output I spliced it directly to the "ignition On/Start" lead, for example, rear window defogger relay input (#1, red/green). That way the fog lights are on with the ignition, so you don't have to turn parking lights on. The only trick is that (at least on 02 Pathy) fog light relay has 2 red/blue wires, so make sure you got the right one. Good luck.
Oh, yeah, and for those south of the border who wonder wtf DRL is, it's a headlight thing required in Canada that makes high beams run at half the voltage during the day.
