1992 nissan hard body auto. trans ??

This little truck will not start when its in 'park' , but when you shift into
'neutral' it will roll over and start...I am stumped , for I can;t find any adjustments or switch....Also the 'battery' light comes on very dim,, I have changed the battery , it was a little weak , took off the 'positive' cable when running, it still runs,,, I'm assuming its charging...any help would be appreciated ,, thanks

is it a floor shifter or column? have you checked your voltage regulator?

its column shift,,,I am going to check regulator today,,,,thanks for your help

there should be a switch either on the column (behind the dash) or at the linkage on the tranny to allow it to start in park as with neutral, check to see if it tries to turn over in gear fwd or rev ( make sure you have room around the vehicle incase it does start) this will tell you if the switch needs adjusting.
