What are you putting in the washer fluid resivoir(sp?) I always thought most fluids are alcohol based and didn't freeze until like 150 below.

If you are putting water in the box, go buy you a cheap bottle of rubbing alcohol and pour that in it, it used to work for me.

The stores have different grades of washer fluid (read the container) and choose one that suits the temperature. And only delute as marked on the container.

freezing washer fluid

Thanks for your replys. We put some blue stuff in last year. When it got to 12 below it froze up. when it got warm it thawed. I got some rain-x washer fluid now. I will be draining the old stuff out and putting in the rain-x. I will let you know how that works. I live in st. josephm, mo. every now and again it gets a little cold. What I was looking for was a way to thaw out washer unit like usind a hair dryer or aheated dip stick. oh yea the rain-x stuff is good to 25 below. We'll see....Peace Out

be careful with the rain x, or other brand's that claim they melt ice, etc. everytime i used them i had horrible problems with the windows fogging up, and the fluid would leave a film on the windshield would would make it harder to see, the cheap ol blue stuff is all you need, it works just as well, use strait washer fluid do not add water as it will raise the freezing point, around here its less then a dollar a gallon and protects well below zero. durring the warmer months adding water shouldn t be a problem though.
