My pickup will not crank over..engine does not turn....so, I checked the ign switch to make sure I had voltage to the starter, removed the lead from the starter, and yes when the switch is turned, voltage!....checked to make sure positive lead from battery had 12 volts at the starter end....yes it did. So I removed the starter and took it to the local auto zone for testing...bingo, it worked fine...tested it 3 times....so now I have a starter that tests ok, 12 volts from the ign switch, 12 volts from the battery, but it will not turn over. At some point in time someone disconnect the switch under the clutch pedal, and soldered the wires together, so I am pretty sure that is not it. Kind of stumped now....help!
check your ground it maybe corroded, take a breaker bar to the crank pulley center bolt to make sure the engine didn't seize (sorry that just pop into my head). check the fuses, also when you checked the ign sw was it in the on position or the start position?

When I checked the ign switch, it was in the start position, which sends the current to the starter sol. there is 12 volts there......engine is not seized, and grounds appear ok....did not find any bad fuses....kind of stumped
just wanted to make sure had me stumped too. how about the battery terminals? are they corroded? you could have 12v without a load. did you check the fuses in the engine comp. and inside? do you get a click from the starter or nothing? is your fuel (if it's electric) coming on? did you check the ECM?
Maybe your clutch neutral safty switch isn't getting signal through it, or isn't working right. Since someone jacked with the wires.
the battery is ok....had it on the charger..the switch behind the clutch pedal is disconnected....and the wires soldered together....looked at all the fuses in the passenger compt....where are the fuses in the engine compt? How would the ECM affect this? The motor will not even turn over.
fuse box should be on 1 of the fender walls, ECM was brought up by a buddy who had the same prob and turned out it was the ECM, don't know how they are connected prior to eng running.
Some of the fuses & relays are on the passenger fender well. The other fuse block is under the dash on the driver side. Sounds like you need a digital multimeter & wiring schematic to do some troubleshooting, along with a T-pin wire tap.

I have a multimeter and schematic, and have been checking fuses, relays, wiring, etc...but still no luck....am going to crawl under it today (again) and check the netural safety switch at the transmission....then take out the seat and check the ECM.......Hopefully I can figure this out....If anyone else has any suggestion's they are really appreciated. thanks for all the responses so far.
on the right side (passenger) of the engine bay, there is a blue relay, 2 plug in's. have someone turn the ignition switch to the start position and then tap that relay.... if its not totaly gone it should start. (the relay is a common problem, I carry one in the glove) relay part # 25230-89981 I believe they run about $15.... good luck

update: spent sometime today checking fuses, and fuseable links with a multimeter...still nothing! Any also checked ECU....when key is turned on, the red and green lights come on just like they are supposed too...then it flashes two codes, a 23 (2 red, 3 green) and a 24 (2 red and 4 green)....In the Haynes manual I have it does not show them ...anyone know what they are? Any other thoughts.....?
Thanks for the info.....not sure what that means now....because as suggested by a previous response, I had my wife turn the key to the start position and I tapped on that blue relay on the passenger side of the eng, compt....and bingo, she fired right up....are these two codes something I should worry about now?

Speddo, Is that blue relay something I can get at AutoZone, Advance, etc....If so, what do I ask for? What relay is it?

ok.....speddo, just check autozone online, it appears that there is a wells relay part number....so tormorrow I will go get one, and see if that solves the problem....I want to thank everyone for you help......and will let you all know the results....
