98 Quest seat belt buckle - hard to find, plz help!
Hey y'alls, noob here. Found this forum off a Yahoo search for a specific part, and to my disappointment, Yahoo and Google searches have been unsuccessful.
I have a 98 Quest GXE, looking for the seat belt buckle on the 2nd row passenger bucket seat, the one closer to the sliding door. Long story made shorter -- out-of-town guest buckle himself, except when he went to latch the seat belt to the buckle, he somehow broke off the plastic release piece and in an attempt to 'fix' (or hide) the problem, he made it worse by messing up the whole latch system. So now I'm shopping for the seat belt buckle itself.
Can't find the D#$% thing anywhere! The only option is to buy another seat, but I'm not up for paying hundreds of dollars for one. It's the weekend, so the local dealership parts department is closed till Monday.
i could really use a lot of help in locating one of these. This makes it illegal to put one of our kids in that seat, so now all three will have to share the rear bench seats and I am definitely not looking forward to their bickerings in such close quarters. A weblink to a useful resource such as a junk yard or retailer, even a quote for a replacement will still be helpful. Otherwise, I'll call the dealer on Monday. We have a holiday road trip coming up and it sure would be nice to have this done before the trip.
Thanks for reading, looking forward to your responses.

check the dealer ser dept to see if it can be warrantied. it is a safety item and some makers will warrant that well pass the fact. warranty. otherwise look to a junk yard or buy new from dealer.
If the belt broke during normal use, and you bought it new, you may well be able to get it done under an NTSB/EPA safety/smog edict, but I have a feeling that if the belt has been unchangeably jury rigged you are going to be out of luck...
I broker hard to find parts for exotics and rare cars as a sideline - Just checked car-parts.com and found about a dozen seat belts for the 98 Quest nationwide and in Canada. Simply plug in the year and scroll down to the make and model, locate the part by typing an S and seat belt is the first item in the dropdown; add your zip code to the bottom of the page. When the box comes up asking if you want the 98 Quest or interchange, on the first pass simply leave it alone and continue. If you can't find one on the first selection, arrow back to the beginning and select Interchange when the box comes up. The page prints in easy to read format but select black and white, because it eats color cartridges.... Most yards will UPS to the credit card address, but some only take cash up front or will only sell to local pickup. For pickup items, I generally negotiate the price to about 75-80% of the listed amount, and for small lightweight items going UPS, I usually get them to pay the freight if my cost is over $50. The fact of the matter is they are dealing in junk that happens to be your treasure, but on the flip side, at the end of the day, they can't go to the drive in at McD's and trade an XJS grille or a Quest seatbelt even for a burger that fell on the floor... I would rather sell a walk-in part advertised at $100 for $90 delivered than have it sit on the shelf until the end of days....
