I have a 96 Pathfinder SE which lists 265-70 R15 as the standard tire. Can I switch to something more common such as 31-10.5 15 without causing any damage to the 4WD?
As long as the tires clear (the fender) and it is close to the same hight then everything should be good (speedometer/ride). But as far as effecting your 4WD unit, it does not care what tire you put on there.
i put a new set of michelin ltx m/s 31-10.5 15s on my 96 se 4x4 and havent seen any adverse effects.... the manager at the dealership shop said he loved the choice i made... got about 95,000 on them.... not too shabby... still like new... get an alignment if you get them... and i got the lifetime balancing..
