Question New guy in need of help!

I was thinking of dropping a Chevy 8 or 6 cylinder in my 87 hardbody. What do I need adapter wise. Will anything bolt up to my stock tranny or will I have to run a TH350 or 400. Do I need to use the chevy flywheel or nissan. If I need to run a chevy tranny, what do I do for tranny to transfer. Also, do i need to do any cutting on the frame for the V-8 and will the 4.3 drop into stock motor mounts. Anything else you guys know about these trucks will be helpful. Any tips, tricks or easy do-it-yourself mods would be awsome. Thanks for all the help!

TOO many questions

Not sure what your mechanical skill level is, but the questions your asking would have been answered by past experiences and or reading mags & manuals. My advice, keep it nissan, and stock. If you want a Hotrod Truck, get a 72
Chevy shortbed stepside and have-at-it................

Several people there have done the 4.3 and 350 swaps. Also, don't use a TH400 transmission. It is heavy as hell, has higher gears, and is not needed. A TH350 is all you need. It stood up behind my 400 small block, bored to 409, with a massive roller valvetrain. 450 wheel hp.

http://www.advanceadapters.com/ may have some adapters that you need as well. The 350 swap is popular into 4x4 mini trucks.

Also, if you might want to consider putting in a ka24e from a '90-97 hardbody, and slap a turbo on it. Turbo KA = beast, and would be much lighter than a chevy 4.3 or 350.
