97 pickup steering column vibration/shudder
My '97 KA24E five-speed manual pickup (135K, drives like new except for this) has developed a vibration/shudder in the steering column which I cannot seem to isolate. Originally I thought it was coming from the steering wheel, so I took the shroud etc. off and everything was torqued properly. However, I did not remove the airbag module (because I'm afraid of it). All tolerances look good throughout the whole steering system. It only seems to do it around idle or near-- at highway speeds it's flawless. Can't be brakes or tire balance because it'll do it at a full stop. A minor annoyance on the whole, but any ideas? Danke mucho--Chris
p.s. One other thing-- after cold start if I depress the clutch pedal FULLY it makes almost a grinding noise as if to say 'hey bitch, gimme some time!'. At normal operating temps it's fine. In either state it's never caused any problems. Perhaps the throw-out bearing? Again, any ideas are welcome...
