I have a '94 hardbody, 2.4/5spd. My problem is as follows:
Under deceleration in any gear, at any speed, my truck bucks like a mofo, and backfires; say for example the light turns red 100 yards in front of me, and I let off the gas in 4th or 5th gear at 45 mph. That's when it starts bucking and backfiring. When I hit the clutch to get it to stop bucking, the idle goes crazy, bouncing around between 300 and 1500 rpm. Basically, the truck revs by itself. Once I have been stopped for a few seconds, the idle returns to normal, and doesn't act up again until the next time I mash the clutch while rolling. If it makes any difference, I have noticed recently that my temperature gauge barley moves at all. It will move mabey 1/4" from the C, and stay there. I have had this problem before, but it fixed itself; I can't remember if the temp gauge stayed on C the first time I had the problem. Also, sometimes when I am creeping along at slow speeds in first gear, such as when I am driving up my driveway, the truck will buck even while I am on the gas. Any ideas?
