95 exhaust pipe

I have a 95 pickup, 4wd, 5-spd, 2.4 4cyl, shortbed. THe downpipe (pipe from the back of exhaust manifold to the catylitic converter) has a crack. ITs too gone too weld. Its aluminized pipe, cheap. Is the stock pipe stainless steel or is it the cheap pipe. Im planning on gettin a new one from a salvage yard or Advance Auto Parts. Is the one at advance cheap also? Do i have to get that tube welded? Can someone plz help me out a little plz! Ty

I'm sure you can get another pipe from a junkyard truck. Only problem is loosening the bolts... I don't know where you live, but they are often rusted through, and you can possibly snap them. I did that to my '97. Just be careful. Soak the bolts with PB Blaster (yellow can, great stuff) a LOT, and just take your time with it. If you don't have that much rust, great.

Other than that, it's an easy job. Just get new flange gaskets. The top of the pipe takes two 'donut' gaskets, and the bottom at the cat is a typical flange gasket. You need both of those.
