Ok i've this one pissed me off and while it wasn't hard to fix its got me worried.
I've had a leak from the tranny around the centeral cross member for awhile and its was getting worse so i decided to take a look about 2 weeks ago
And horror of horrors the tranny has a gash thats seeping mobile 1 at an alarming rate. After cleaning the wound i managed to dislodge a large rotten piece of crud and gear oil started pouring out uncontrollably.
If you look at the mounting ears on the side you'll see that they were broken off. Damn tranny mount bolts were loose and the vibration must have cracked them off. I had an unresolved driveline noise that has now been traced to this portion of the transmission.
OMG what will i do? Order a new T-5 and say to hell with it? NO WAY! I don't want to spend the money so screw it. Where's my JB Weld?
I had to drain the fluid and use a shop vac through the add plug hole to keep the remainder from seeping out untill the epoxy had begun to set. After the first layer cured i came back and put another thicker layer on top. The photo is the end result.
Then i cut and formed some 1/8" aluminum sheeting to help retain the bolts in the busted flanges and put the tranny mount bolts in with lock-tite.
Fingers crossed i've driven 500 miles since then and the bolts are still tight. Don't know how well they'll hold up but hope for the best. Any comments?
