Rear wheel hardbody studs, my god.

So I got a flat tire yesterday, and I changed it. One of the studs had screwed up threads from taking the wheels off in the past, and it finally broke yesterday. I get to work, and put a new one in. While taking the spare off, another one broke.

Not to mention, one broke last year when I was working on it. So now that's three studs on the rear wheels that have broken. What the hell... is it because they're fine thread? Do the factory studs/nuts just suck this much? Is it from the soft metal?

I think whoever was retorquing the lugs was overdoing it. (like those asses who put every tire back on with the impact). The thing about bolts is that they stretch. Cycle it too many times, or stretch the hell out of them, and they'll fail prematurely.
