I've been asked this a couple of times...

Just for reference. The tool needed to remove the airbags from Nissan/Infinity cars is a T50H torx bit. You cannot find them at sears, advance auto, autozone, pep boys, or just about any other place in town. The only place I have seen that carrys them is Napa Autoparts.

Snap on tools wanted about 9 dollars for the bit, Napa autoparts price: $3.81 after tax.

thats the funny screw with the post in the middle, correct? ive done this already with a cheap set that i purchased from Harbor Freight. i carefully removed the post in the middle with a small drill bit and then used a torx bit(from harbor freight) to remove it. wasnt very hard to do at all. as far as which size it was... lol, i dont remember.

yes, the funny screw with the post in the middle.

Its easier to just stick on the T50H torx bit and unscrew it...no drilling, and the best part is, its legal!!! (tampering with an airbag system is illegal)

you can get the T50H bits at Sears as well. They're about $3.50 each.

what I did was just buy the T5-T50 set for about $25 and took a 1/8" cobalt drill bit to the T50 bit. made my own -H type.

the torx sets are actually made by Lisle, but Sears stocks them.. Every sears store I've been to has that brand on the shelf.. Their set comes in a T5-T50 set, with a soft rubber holder for all of the sockets. Cost me around $20 if I remember right. been a couple years now.

Wow.. your sears is stupid then.

http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...id=00946345000

I found it in less than 30 seconds.
go to sears.com..
click the drop down search menu to search in tools..
enter "torx set" into the search box, click go..

it was halfway down on the first page of results.

edit...

this one is directly below it:

This one is directly above it: (but it's an online only kit)

Three of the Sears here in the East/SoutEast Los Angeles area had the single socket bit and the set in stock. I've seen the socket bit at Kragen too. Just in case anyone in this area is wondering.....

I've been in there on three different occasions and talked to three different occasions and 2 of them looked it up in their inventory and all they had was the T5-T40 set. I didnt ask if they could order it, because napa has all of them in stock
