Cycle Time

I just recently bought a 5hp, 20 gallon, oil-lubed, single stage Air Compressor from Napa. Everything works fine and all but it takes forever to cycle up. I mean I would let it sit there for a good hour and it would only reach about 75 psi. It has an automatic off switch when it reaches a certain psi but I had left it on for about 1 and a half hours and it never shutted off. I'm new to air compressor so I'm not sure how long it should take or if that is normal. I don't know the duty cycle. And the manual isn't really helpfull. Just wanted to know you guys opinion. Thanks

I think you should take it back to NAPA and exchange it or get a refund. It should do better than that.

i found out what the problem was. i went back to look at all the other compressors and saw that it had a part that i didn't have. It was stupid and simple. I had forgotten to put in the air filter. And there was a plug by where the air filter unit plugs in and that was blocking any kind of air intake. I guess I should've looked through the parts that came with the compressor. Now the compressor works great. Takes about 3-4 min for it to cycle up.
