Just got a new multimeter!
I got it for 75 bucks from Home Depot, marked down from 150.. Figured I couldn't pass it up
It's an Ideal 61-481 Commercial Contractors Multimeter
Can take the following readings
True RMS AC Volt
DC Volts
True RMS AC Current
DC Current
Frequency/RPM
Resistance
Diode Testing
Capacitance
Continuity Check
Came with test probes and alligator clips
Now... Is there a way I can check my engine RPM to see if my tach is correct?
If so, is there anything I would need to buy?

Mine was $20 from ace hardware. Digital and everything.
Yours is a bit nicer though. Mine can't do rpm and stuff.

Mine was 19 from home depot. But I think it got fried when i left it in my car during the summer for a week
. That sounds like an awsome multi-meter. Alligator clips equals god unless you have a helper. If you don't have someone who trust you they will say "why are you having me hold this and not you?" And you say "I don't have 1million hands." And lol.

Errr, alligator clips come as attachments when you buy good leads. you can get them at Rat Shack, Fry's, and most electronics/hobby stores like them.

I know some come standard with alligator clips but some don't. I hate to hyjack but is it possible that my multimeter got fried in the heat. iT seemed to be giving wrong readings. Is there anyway to check to see if it is working properly?

Change the battery and then stick it on any kind of power source
Car should be close to 13.8
House should be close to 120 (I personally get 122VAC everywhere)
Or even a little charger that has the round little plug in thingy would work. Look at the voltage on the little box and compare.
