geez that's nice to know because if the titan was governed at a lowly 95 mph like my frontier that would keep me from buying one! I can't wait to get mine at the end of the year!
Later,

Trucks have low(er) speed limiters for a reason. Manufacturers aren't stupid -- but they know drivers are. Unfortunately, you can often pay money to get a chip that allows you to be even MORE stupid. I hope you're doing that driving away from a public road...or I at least hope that I'm not out on the same road with you. I'm with JeffinSC I hope you don't kill anyone trying to break 115 mph. And if you do, I'm glad new vehicles have black boxes, cuz they don't lie.
Are you saying you can get info from the computer after an accident? e.g. check whether the driver was speeding or not?
Yeah, and I love it. There was a high-profile case in Florida where this guy killed two people in a neighborhood and he said he was going about 35-40 and tried to stop. The black box indicated he was going over 100 mph with full throttle at the time of impact. The box measures brake and accelerator positions up to 5 seconds (I think) before the time of impact. I'm sure a lot of people think it invades their privacy. I'm of the opinion that when you're on a public road, it's everyone's business what they're doing, and not only their own. If they're on private property on a closed track, fine. But a public road is no place to screw around, and I'm glad they're getting devices into vehicles like this that can tell the truth when people sometimes don't.
If you know the limits of the car and actually know what you are doing (Like slowing down and readying yourself when you approach a few cars) you won't kill anybody. that's my whole deal! Like I said I can't vouch for everybody.
I agree, and I think that's consistent with the quote in your signature. Unfortunately, most people don't take driving responsibly, and they give up a coupla hundred bucks and slap in a chip that all of a sudden lets them drive as fast as the wind, or their engine, will let them. Then they do go careening down the Interstate, possibly drunk, and kill a few people.
Since 1994, some crash data has been available from the airbag module in GM vehicles. The NHTSB made recommendations that manufactures collect this data in 1997. Since 1999, General Motors vehicles have complied with the request in many of their vehicles. And that's just GM. Any vehicle equipped with an airbag stores some sort of data when the airbag is deployed...and vehicle speed is likely the least of that data. It can save your ass if you really were abiding by the law, and it can throw you in jail if you weren't. Power is in the facts, and I hope all vehicles are equipped with these things in the near future. Nothing would grind my gears more than the situation where my family was killed in an accident and there was no way of knowing the facts at the time of the wreck (knowing the technology is out there).
This is a site of a friend of mine, and it's interesting to see what's out there. More than you think to be sure. http://www.airbagcrash.com

Darn it!!! I edited the message instead of replied to it. My sincerest apologies. I am a :dumbass: What I wrote is below, if you (black_knight) want to replace what I wrote in your post with what you originally wrote.

In the case where anyone can go to the DMV and easily get a license to pilot a vehicle, I think the sefest thing for all of us is to introduce some control (but obviously the type of control is controversial and widely varying).

Well I know I've had mine to 115mph. Got there pretty quick too. Yes I was on a straight road in the boon docks now one around for miles. Its a long stretch of country road that no one gets on. Occasionally a deer or two. Now that would have been fun dodging a deer at 115 hehe.

Are you positive that nobody else is there? I've been young and dumb, too. As I have gotten older I have personally seen what bad crashes can do and it's not something that I want to see again. If you want to hurt or kill yourself, fine...but it is the other person involved that may have to live with your poor decision. My advice is to slow down or take it to a controlled environment.
Thats just fantastic thanks for all the mothering woo wee you guys are the best. NOT! You want to preach to me start a new topic and jump right in.. otherwise just answer the question honestly. jeez you guys- I'm sure you never break the law always drive the speed limit, walk old ladys across the street ect ect... It's a Truck .. not a sports car.
Real Fun dodging animals at 115 mph in a heavy truck that wasn't designed with any type of performance driving in mind.
If you hit a large deer going 115 mph I sure hope your life insurance is up to date, so your family won't have to pay all those extra bills from your funeral.

Enough flaming-
In SC, most counrty roads are 50-55 mph. There is big differnce in going 65-70 v/s more than double.
