I have a new Titan Crew Cab LE and have been experiencing the radio fading problem. The Rockford Fosgatge audio sounds great with a CD, but the radio is inconsistent. Sometimes it sounds fine and then for no reason it will fade out and a little while later it will come back. I have the SSV option off so that the volume level shouldn't be changing. The fading is not just a volume issue it is also a sound quality issue. It sounds similar to an AM broadcast without the buzz of the AM stations. Please let me know if anyone has heard any new about a fix to this.

I have the same truck & my radio was fading also.. I read the book & saw that I had my SSV set to High.. I turned it off & will check the result later. That SSV I do not care for. Mine is doing the same thing though & I will check it more thourougly then reply back... Like you said the CD system rocks!!! But the radio seems like it is lacking.. I will post later...ONEFISHER

I have radio fade as well SSV off and only on the radio not the CD. Seems like the station just gets static then comes back. My 91 SE-R gets better reception.
I get some fade as well on FM (with SSV turned off). What I'm not totally sure of could it be the auto signal quality "muting" system? By this I mean many radio circuits for autos implement a signal quality monitoring feature that automatically reduces the higher and I believe lowest frequencies if the signal degrades so as to not introduce or to minimize any audible FM noise/distortion. I listen intently when it happens and it seems to be muting down the highs - but it doesn't come back fast enough in my opinion. However, it could just be a flaw in the radio design and we all need new radios! Let me know what you guys think as you give it some more listening time.
Cheers,
dagger

I bought a Titan XE three weeks ago (1,000 miles on truck) and have had it in the shop three times about the radio issue and twice for other issues (power window problem and low tire pressure indicator problem). The dealer finally told me that all of the Titans have the same radio problem and they are waiting on Nissan to either issue a recall or a TSB. Everyone with the same problem please call 1-800-NISSAN1 to register your complaint so Nissan will address this issue.
I too have the very same problem with my radio versus playing CD's. I never play the radio! I did call Nissan yesterday and filed my complaint. The guy acted like he had never heard of this and told me that I needed to take it to the dealer however he did issue me a complaint registration number. I think we all need to call Nissan to let them know. Hopefully we will hear something soon. I really dont want to go to the dealer. Its so painful!

here is a Good solution. Get a better radio. Install something like a Alpine. I was never a fan of Stock stereos

I would agree about getting a better radio which by the way I have done many times in the past. However the difference I see in this case is that we all have the same defective radio. Its not like its a cheap radio in a Ford Pinto. If it werent defective I could see me forking out money to get a different one. I want the original one to sound like its supposed to before I make the decision to change it out. Supposedly the radio in these is a Clarion which arent bottom of the barrel and with the rockford Fosgate amp/speakers it should sound as AWESOME as it does when I play a CD. I think its up to Nissan to FIX our radio issue.

When i got my truck I had a clarion radio (these stereos havent changed for a while with some nissans) with a cd changer in my truck and I thought it sounded piss Poor. But yet its a older truck. But still Soon as i changed out my radio with another one the sound changed drasticaly. Since then I also have changed out all My Speakers and added subs and a amp. I admit Some stock stereos sound good Like My dads mercadies. its a Bose system with Bose speakers. my moms BMW Its a alpine System. with alpine speakers.
As for Nissan fixing the radios in the Titans. Hell yeh They should fix them. who wants a Piece of crap radio. After spending 40 grand on one of those truck ....who would have Money to buy a Aftermarket system :-p p

I am taking my Titan to the dealer tomorrow for the radio problem!! Maybe one of the techs can find out what is wrong... Lets keep this to the top until we find out what the problem is!!! ONEFISHER
We Titan owners need to wait this one out for a while and see if Nissan corrects the problem, they damn well ought to. If the radio were to be swapped out, though, where would we find one that fits the console?
I added the XM radio option to my King Cab LE, and I'm REALLY happy with it! It never fades, and has true digital sound. It also has ~100 channels, most with no commercials. It's great to be able to take a long trip and not have to hunt for radio stations along the way (or have none available).
I almost never listen to commercial radio anymore...

Famer Dave,

My Nissan dealership service manager told me that Nissan i saware of the problem & working on a service bulletin to fix it... Hope this works & fast!! ONEFISHER
