New Titan LE

I just purchased a new Titan and man what a truck. I bought the crew cab LE 2 wheel drive with the navigation, DVD, side air-bags, sunroof and the big tow package. I've had it for about 4 days now and I'm still in awe. My hat is off to Nissan for this one!! Anyone else here bought one or had the opportunity to drive one???

I don't know what kind of mileage your getting with your Armada but so far I'm averaging 17.6, and that's with my foot stuck to the floor a lot!! I'm trying to use a little restraint until the engine gets some more miles on it but it's really hard to do.....

Check out this thread and you'll see that you're getting a lot of bang for your gas $$. Can you run regular unleaded in the Titan, or does it say "premium fuel only?"
http://www.nissanforums.com/showthread.php?t=42391

The one disappointment I have had with my truck is that it's gas mileage isn't much better than the Q's. Best I've seen on the truck is about 21MPG. The 2.4L is just labored so much of the time that I think it really is underpowered. The good news is that I only use my truck for the occasional trip to Home Depot or when I just want to give the Q a break, so it's not that bigh of a deal. I get between 17-20 on the Qs, with a lot of mixed driving, so 17.6 sounds about right... actually pretty good with the extra 1.6L of displacement! Several Q guys are waiting for someone to total out a Titan or Armada so we can try dropping one into a 1st gen Q45!

it uses regular fuel only. Not a bad deal with all that horsepower. I would love to put it on a dyno because I've read several reports that claim Nissan has under rated the horsepower of the 5.6L greatly, of which after driving it I'm somewhat inclined to believe. As a matter of fact if you look in the latest car and driver it even beat out the Dodge Hemi in all performance categories!!

yeah breakin period on the engine is 1200 miles according to the service book, like you i have to hold back on punching it, my gas mileage is good getting around 17- 18 mpg not bad at all if you ask me, as far as the gas the book says at least 87, but for better perfomance use at least 91 octane so im useing 89 for now

If Nissan states specifically in the book that you'll get more power by running more octane, then the engine was really designed for using premium fuel, since that's where the power is optimized at. To keep out of lawsuits, and to be able to advertise that the truck is supposed to take 87 octane, they may have rated the horsepower on 87 octane. If you run 87 octane, but the engine was really optimized for premium, the computer will always be retarding the timing and you'll get slightly less performance ("slightly" meaning maybe 5-10 hp at the most), although obviously no engine damage occurs because of the knock control system. After your truck breaks in, I would do some timed performance runs (or even take it to a dyno) using both regular and premium fuel and see what kind of difference you see at the rear wheels.

I would like to get it on a dyno regardless of what octane fuel is in it just to see if Nissans claims are conservative. Maybe that will be next search is to find one local to me. There's got to be one somewhere on the south side of Atlanta that's easily accesible.

All I have to say is that I love the Titan! When my lease on my Spec runs out I'm gonna buy a 350Z and tow it with a Titan, . Man that would be awesome, haha. Any ways, wish me luck.

My 04 Titan 4X4 king cab has a little over a 1000 miles on it and my best mileage has been 14.4 most tanks were 13.4 . A long way from 17mpg.

well my gas mileage is more like chucks, never once has it been over 14.5, even when I was driving nice during breakin, its pretty much more like 11 to 13. Overall I like my new titan, I am most disappointed with the quality control on Nissans first fullsize truck. For starters, the subwoofer already came unbolted from the floor, the truck vibrates at 45 and again over 70. The cruise control surges when trying to shift back up to overdrive. All four tire pressures where 8 pounds over what max should be. The tailgate doesnt latch on both sides unless slammed shut, and the one thing i still have to do is raise the breather for the rearend just so I can launch my boat. All this on a brand new truck with 2600 miles on it.
