4X4 wheels

i was wondering, i am planning on running my 83 nissan 4X4 in the Tough Truck Competition this summer, and i have a dilema. i realy want to put big tires on it for the rocks and things, but how big can i realy go? i mean i have an oppertunity to put 36's and 15X12.5 rims on it, but my turning would take a dump. help me out if u can. thanks

Im not sure about nissan stuff but it should be the same concept as on ford/chevy trucks in this case... Do you have any sort of mods or suspension work done? In order to cost effectively fit large tires without interference, I would recommend installing a body lift(not suspension lift - all though also recommended), and either run longer studs with wheel spacers, or use wheels with enough offset to clear everything(the second of these options being the better). On a side note, if you plan on running the truck hard, and possibly catching any amount of "air", make sure you have strong wheels, and wheel hardware or something will decide to remove itself from your truck(you would have a spair I hope...lol)! Just my .02

actualy, i'm planning on taking it off of jumps and such. i am building a complete roll cage for it, and am just going to us sheet metal to cover it insted of the cab. i was goin to make the fender wells sit abnormaly high so that the wheels didn't rub, and put plates on the leaf springs and get bigger u bolts. all in al, i am hoping to have a 3 inch suspension lift, and having what would be like a 5 inch body. i was also wondering if anyone knew if i can put ford and chevy 6 bolt rims on the truck?
