Talking The Icebreaker Thread

And guess what? I still have my WinterExtreme tires on so it really is an icebreaker thread. I just couldn't resist plundering a new forum.

I got my flat black Rota Slipstreams, 15x6.5, and Falken Ziex-512 tires in 195/50/15.

I can't wait to put them on there!!! Will up pics when they are on.

It took a lot of hemming and hawing and research and review-reading and ebay surfing to finally decide on that combo. Black, cuz my car is Emerald black 94 sentra XE, and I am getting wheels more for the go than the show. Plus I am sick of speding half a day or more sitting at crappy tire shop to have improperly balanced wheels put on, switching tires on the same crappy stock steelies. Now I can just jack up my car and change my wheels myself when it switches from Hot season to Cold season (umm...or from RoadWork season to Freezing Cold season)

I am gonna get wheel locks and just some silver lug nuts, and hub rings 59.1/67.1 so the wheels will fit.

OK, so just to repeat it for the millionth time for any n00b who's lookin:
B13 Sentra has 4x100 bolt pattern, offset 38mm(or 40...), wheel hub bore is 59.1mm (NOT like 56.1 mm Honda stuff - is u get honda wheels they won't necessarily fit) put on the lightest 15-inch wheels you can find if you value a comfortable ride and good handling.

A good site for figuring out different tire/wheel combos when plus-sizing: http://www.greenhydrant.com/~drees/a...calc/index.php
you just plug in your info read from side of your tire (eg I have 175/70/13 stock size) and then input the range you want to look at and you max error ( I think more than 3% is way too much...my combo has less than 1% error...so engine and revs and odometer and speedometer will not be too much affected)

A good site for wheel weights: http://www.wheelweights.net/

For tire weights, I think Toyos are really light, but you can find that info on a lot of their websites (Falken etc) just look around or ask at the tire shop.

I had Toyo Ultra 800s on before, P175/70R13, pretty good for a tiny touring tire and they last forever. I believe the ratio for weight savings is 4:1 since if you reduce unsprung weight from the tires/wheels it effectively reduces the weight the vehicle has to pull - in my case it will save 60 pounds I think from just shaving 15 pounds off the wheels and tires!

In Canada I got my 4 tires for $376CDN shipped to my doorstep from tiretrends.com and they have good customer service. They also have wheel sales, I would have bought bronze Konig Heliums from them, but they were 5-6 week back-order and I need to put on my summer tires or else I'd be buyin new winters come November ;(

On EBay I bought my sheels from HRacing (http://stores.ebay.com/Hracingzone), I got all 4 for $359.99US in the end with shippinga nd customs I had them in my trunk for $608CDN. They have Rota wheels BuyItNow on there for 325US right now. I had a good buying experience from them.

Shopping around saved me I think $400CDN from what the 'retailers' around Montreal charge.

Alright, so get to them wheels and tires!

Peace

D

I own a 01 Sentra 2.0 Se, I just bought it used and it has the optional 16" rims on it so I put on BFG. Traction TA's on there. I went from a 195 to a 215/50/R16. The car handles much better around cornors and it's also much better on the straight away.
